Everyone loves a good April Fool's Day joke. Although they can get embarassing and out of hand. At the end you just have to laugh it off and admit to getting "punked", right? WRONG. Well, when it begins to mess with your superstar image and the almighty dollar the humor ceases to be recognized. Especially if you are mega talented pop star Usher Raymond.
thebigif.comOn April 1, 2005 Russ Parr, one of radio's well known syndicated morning show personalities based out of the Maryland/D.C area, decided to add a little spice to their barrel of a.m. antics. It was stated during the show that Usher had a confession posted on his website. Apparently, it was an admission on Usher's part to being bi-sexual. They read on air that the pop star said " I feel it's time for me to keep it real with my fans. I'm under close scrutiny...people are examining my life. It's tough for me..living in a fishbowl. I am a universal superstar and I know they will accept me for who I am and what I am. My sexuality is not of importance. Yes,I have been with both genders but that does not take away from my massive fanbase and the talent they have supported me with over the years."
Russ Parr stated that throughout the entire show they repeatedly announced it was part of the whole April Fool's Day brew ha-ha. But, someone posted it online -minus the April Fool's. In rebuttal Russ Parr issued this statement to AllHipHop.com:
"The statements made about Usher on Friday, April 1, 2005 were merely part of an April Fool's joke. The statement that you quoted onwebsite was a part of the joke and was not intended to be taken seriously, nor was it intended to defame Usher or his image. I am a big fan of Usher and his work. In my opinion, his talent supersedes anything in his personal life including his sexuality; either way I do not believe that he is gay or bi-sexual. I stated several times on the show that day that it was all an April Fools' joke. I have the utmost respect for Usher as an artist and as a person and would never do anything to intentionally harm him or his career."
The comment Usher supposedly issued is not actually on his website (trust me I looked).So now everyone can get their laugh on. Now ladies, the Usher you all know and love is still very single and ready to mingle.
